Dr. Matt Gomulak is Independence's Equine veterinarian. In his undergraduate and veterinary summers,
Dr. Matt enjoyed training western performance horses in Texas and fitting and caring for thoroughbred
race horses in Kentucky.
After graduating from The University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 1999, Dr. Matt interned
for a year at Equine Medical Associates in Pilot Point, TX and was hired on as an associate where he
practiced for 5 more years. Dr. Matt and his wife, Dr. Shelly, opened their own clinic in Gainesville, TX
3 years ago where Dr. Shelly serves the companion animal community. The combination of Dr. Matt's
medical knowledge and practical experience in horse behavior and training enable him to practice the highest quality
of equine medicine with ease and efficiency.

Veterinary Medicine and has been practicing for 11 years.
She completed her internship at a specialty clinic in Berwyn, IL and then took a full-time job at a small animal
practice outside Madison,
WI. After following her husband to Texas where he could pursue his love of horses, Dr. Shelly
worked as a full-time relief veterinarian for 7 years. By working for many doctors at different hospitals, Dr. Shelly
was able to draw knowledge from many. Dr. Shelly has used this knowledge to design an

efficient and effective hospital that
is able to give your pets the best medical care. Dr. Shelly is also the Vice-President
of Noah's Ark Animal Shelter and donates her time spaying & neutering shelter animals and providing health care. Dr. Matt & Dr. Shelly enjoy a balance of work and fun. Together they have four young children (three boys and a little girl), who keep them very busy. At home in Gainesville, they house a menagerie of animals from injured or orphaned wildlife to their family dogs, cats and horses and including the inevitable stray cats and dogs that wonder into their lives. |
